Over the weeks I was involved in the 2024 rainy season preparation at AGT. I help the field team with loading seed samples into plates for marker assisted selection, I also worked with the glasshouse team to harvest breeding population and also sow the selected progenies for accelerated breeding in the speed breeding control facility.

My recent work has mostly revolved around aiding in quality control, ensuring that material that is clean and uncontaminated before sending off to be bulked for future distribution. I’ve also been helping with selection of progeny from a population of wheat hybrid lines, selecting for seeds that displayed expression of the Ba (blue aleurone) gene in seed endosperm, indicating the presence of the gene of interest.
